Home and Community IV Antibiotic Therapy

The Home and Community Intravenous (IV) Antibiotic Therapy Program is a free service for clients 16 years of age and older requiring IV antibiotics that are well enough to receive their medication on an outpatient basis. This service is expected to be short term but each situation will be assessed on an individual basis.

The IV Antibiotic Therapy Program can be accessed through referral from a doctor or nurse practitioner in a hospital setting. The program is available to clients in St. John’s and surrounding areas and in the communities covered by the Harbour Grace and Bay Roberts community health nursing offices. The program operates from Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 9 p.m. (10 p.m. in some areas). Weekend services are also available.

If you live outside of these areas, please check with your local home and community care coordinator for service options.
