Home Support Services

Home support services are in place to provide support in the community and prevent admission to hospital or long term care. Long term home support services can be accessed through Community Support Services or Home and Community Care

Short Term Home Support Services
Short term home support services are available to anyone who has an acute illness or injury that requires care within the Eastern Health region. Services available include bathing, meals, laundry, housekeeping and respite for the primary caregiver. These services are provided by home support workers, personal care aides and respite workers.

Short term home support services are provided for a two week period with a maximum of 21 to 28 hours of home support.

Accessing Home Support Services
Home support services are available across the Eastern Health region. To access these services, an individual must be given a referral from a physician, a community health nurse or from the discharge planner when you leave the hospital. Anyone can request an assessment for referral for home support services.
