The Janeway Diabetes Clinic provides patient- and family-centred care for children diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
We provide assessment, treatment, education and support in an outpatient clinic setting.
A referral from a physician is required to become a patient of the Janeway Diabetes Clinic.

Contacting your doctor/nurse
Your health-care team should be contacted if there are any concerns or questions.
Call immediately, especially if you note:
  • Persistent vomiting, more than once in an hour.
  • Child is unable to eat or drink.
  • Extra insulin has been taken and ketones are still present.
  • The blood sugar is less than 4 and the child is unable to take fluids.
  • Persistent high sugars without ketones.
  • Signs and symptoms of DKA (i.e. Look “sick,” very sleepy, breathing deeply, dry mouth, fruity-odored breath and/or sunken eyes.)
