Centre for Pain and Disability Management

The Centre for Pain and Disability Management (CPDM) is an interprofessional, self-management rehabilitation program focused on the unique needs of people experiencing chronic pain.

What is Chronic Pain?

Chronic pain is a long-term or persistent recurring pain that causes difficulty in day-to-day life. It can impose severe physical and emotional stress and affect families.  Chronic pain can also lead to further physical problems, frustrations and uncertainty about the future.

People experiencing chronic pain can get caught in a downward spiral with negative impact to many aspects of their life, such as:     
  • Physical function        
  • Daily activities         
  • Emotional well-being
  • Thinking process
  • Social life and relationships

The goal of the CPDM program is to reverse the downward spiral, resulting in improved overall function and decreased impact of pain.
